The Westfield Local Heroes program returned for its second year in 2019 with an aim to discover and celebrate individuals and their affiliated organisations whose work promotes social wellbeing and harmony within the community. All nominations were assessed to create a shortlist of six finalists (240 in total across Australia and New Zealand) for every Westfield Centre. As part of the program Westfield awarded 120 grants across Australia and New Zealand totalling $1.2m.
On Wednesday 9 October, Westfield Fountain Gate held their Local Heroes morning tea where they presented awards and cheques to the final 4 Local Heroes finalists with James Seeary (Operation Newstart Casey) and Judy Martin (Endeavour Ministries) both being presented with $10,000 cheques while Daniel Beeson (Try Australia) and Lauren Moore (Abacus Learning Centre) were presented with $5,000 cheques. Each were congratulated by the Casey Mayor Amanda Stapledon who was also in attendance.
