Abacus Learning Centre runs workshops for families and carers of children and teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

  • Understanding Autism and why it is considered a spectrum.
  • Understanding how to teach a child with Autism.
  • Where to start when deciding what to teach a child with Autism.
  • How to manage challenging behaviours.

We understand the complexities of attempting to juggle life’s routine and how difficult it can be to schedule a full day away from family duties. With this in mind, we have developed a number of Single Issue Workshops focussing on common concerns that effect families who have autistic children.

The areas covered include:

  • Toilet training – Techniques to ease the transition from nappies to toilet.
  • Sleep routine – Practical strategies and practices to move closer to a good night sleep every night.
  • Eating – How to increase your child’s menu without meltdowns.
  • Running a successful playdate – How to practise social skills with peers from playgroup, kinder and school.
  • Managing Meltdowns – When is it a tantrum and when is it a “behaviour”? Learn very practical methods of calming your autistic child.

Dates and times will be advised according to level of interest.

Prices vary according to topic. POA.
